DR. TRAVIS TIERNEY, MD

Dr. Travis Tierney, is a movement disorder specialist, board-certified neurosurgeon, and FUS Program Director at The Miami Neuroscience Center at Larkin. Dr. Tierney has dedicated his practice to specializing in the treatment of movement disorders. Movement disorders encompass a range of conditions that affect a person's ability to control and coordinate their voluntary movements.

Dr. Tierney is an internationally recognized expert in functional neurosurgery with additional training in pediatric neurosurgery. He is interested in all aspects of movement disorders, including essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, and dystonia. Dr. Tierney is also an expert in chronic pain, including complex regional pain syndromes, trigeminal neuralgia, and intractable spine pain.

He uses a combination of medical therapy, minimally invasive surgery, and advanced electrical stimulation. Early in his career, he was instrumental in the development and use of asleep deep brain stimulation and high-intensity focused ultrasound at Harvard Medical School.
